Sweden at the Los Angeles Olympics 1932

Sweden's Los Angeles 1932 Olympic performance added a sports and public-culture layer to a depression year otherwise dominated by the Kreuger crash and election politics. SOK records strong Swedish results, especially in wrestling, and notes David Wallin's art-competition gold.

The Los Angeles Summer Olympics opened on 30 July 1932 and ran into August. SOK records a strong Swedish performance, led especially by the wrestlers, and separately notes David Wallin’s gold in the Olympic art competitions.

The SOK page is excellent for names, events, and dates, but it has an internal tension around the combined medal total. For that reason, this page keeps the public claim conservative: Sweden had a medal-rich Games, with exact total ranking left for an Olympedia/IOC control pass.

That is still enough to promote the event. A timeline of 1932 that contains only finance and elections misses how Swedish national attention also moved through sport.
